Questions & Answers About DHEC Flu Clinics
SDPC has posted new information about the DHEC flu clinics to be offered in SDPC schools. This information is available on the SDPC Web site under Student Health Services—H1N1Flu—H1N1 in SDPC. Included are a series of common questions and answers about the DHEC flu clinics in SDPC schools as well as links to the documents parents received in a packet about the clinics.

SDPC hopes that in partnering with DHEC for school-located clinics, students will be able to take advantage of the vaccination campaign that is being encouraged across the nation in the effort to control the spread of the H1N1 virus.

2010-2011 Calendar Now in Draft Form
Each year, a committee of administrators, teachers and parents develops the SDPC school calendar. During the summer of 2011, we’ll move into five new buildings—Chastain Road Elementary, Dacusville Elementary, Liberty High, Pickens High, and the career and technology center.  While construction will not affect next year’s calendar, it will delay the start of the 2011-2012 school year.

At its October meeting, the board approved Dr. Hunt’s request to waive the policy requiring a committee to develop the calendar.  Instead, the district administration is developing calendars for the next two years.  The calendars will include the 180 student attendance days and ten professional development days required by state law as well as holidays and vacations.  The 2011-2012 calendar will also accommodate the construction schedule.

The 2010-2011 School Calendar is now in draft form.  Families or employees making summer plans should remember that the calendar is only a draft and is subject to change.  The draft of the 2011-2012 School Calendar is being prepared and will be posted online as soon as it is complete.
